what could cause this? loss of pressure to that inj or possibly a short in the wire for that inj?

Bad earth or a loose connection normally, but obviously if the injector itself is burned out that will too, but thats less common.

i pulled the wiring harness through and checked the wires and all seem fine so i put it back together and fired it up without the air filter on and now its fine.
dont tell me a air filter can cause these sort of probs can it, its a new one that ive never run before.

What was fault code 81? Dont be stupid the filter has nothing to do with it and it will be a wiring fault if you took it all off, put it back on and it fixed it

IMHO that was a bad connection on one of the earths or the injector positive for that injector, it will be back sadly, and bear in mind if it comes back when you are on boost it could take that cylinder out by going lean!

it didnt put the em light on constant it was flickering when revved up a bit.

It would of still stored the code. So when you said it was inj 1 was it code 81?
