That's an awesome result, as you say just show's that decent power can be made without spending a fortune.
Wonder if I can convince our gaffer to let me have a similar van for work purposes, deliveries would get done alot quicker _________________ Full Circle of Evolution, Astra to Rover to Evo to Rover and back in an Astra |

So basically, an entire LET except for the pistons, which instead of using you use a thicker gasket, which costs the same as a secondhand set of LET pistons anyway, which I must admit is the way I would have gone if doing the same thing as then you could run more midrange boost. _________________ Under 400bhp makes baby jesus cry.

| indeed, but as rob has the engine in the car and it probably looking to be a bit pikey and avoid removing the bottom end or fitting an F28 using a thick gasket and only making power high up probably isnt a bad way to go. For the price of a good let loom and ecu and chips though Id be going for mtec or similar and running a proper boost curve. |

The only parts he used that were either LET parts or identical to let parts seem to be:
Pistons
Cams
Head gasket
Everything else is just exactly the same spec as a normal LET, which is why its a bit confusing that so many people on MIG were surprised that an engine which is almost the same as normal LET made almost the same power as a normal LET
Its really not exactly a big revelation! _________________ Under 400bhp makes baby jesus cry.

Jesus.... Its not that clever but It did make more then I expected TBH.
Pistons would be the better choice as its still knock limited to 10psi even on 99ron fuel running rich. I had the headgasket and didnt have any pistons so it was cheaper and less hassle that way. FREE
To get the timing as on the edge as the closed loop control on Motronic does would be a task for most people on management as it really does pull alot away (not that it would be this high to start with with aftermarket) and put alot back at high rpm as you would expect and does it very well everytime. Its a trade off between boost and timing even with aftermarket. You would not belive the amount of PM's on MIG with people now doing the same
Wish I had some rollers to play with cam timing
Going to sell it now as I have better ideas _________________ Bends,Flanges, clamps, collectors PM for info |

LMAO
Unless they happen to have exactly the same random parts lieing around as you, such as a complete let minus pistons and with a thick headgasket they really are wasting their time and would be so much better off just using a secondhand set of LET pistsons, especially given that they are likely to need to have the engine right out to drill the oil return, but thats MIG for you I guess, lots of people with no imagination of their own so they have to copy anything that seems to work, even if they dont realise the only reason for using those parts was purely they were lieing around, lol _________________ Under 400bhp makes baby jesus cry.
