Got a couple of new updates.
Fist off I’ve decided to buy a new turbo instead of rebuilding this one. I will have it rebuilt at some stage so I can sell it but that can wait for now. The turbo I’ve brought is a gt3071r with 4” anti surge inlet and .63 3” V band exhaust. Should be a bit better than the last one
So wile I’m saving my money to pay for that in 2 weeks I’ve done a couple of other jobs that either needed doing or I wanted to do. I’ve replaced 2 cam seal gaskets, the rocker cover gasket, fitted a new crank sensor to see if I can get rid of that misfire, and yet another cam belt!
Then I thought about doing one of them small alternators. So went out in the yard and found one on a little 4x4. I’ve managed to get that to fit quite well tbh so so far I’m happy with that. Just need to make an adjuster. But because I haven’t got my bottom pulley at the moment I left that there.
Something else I see in Dave B thread was a roose jointed gear linkage. I remembered seeing 2 joints on an adjustable arm. Found that and it was pretty bang on the correct sizes. I’ve not got very far with this as I need to find some stainless tube so I can make it so the roose joint can move rather than being done up tight.
Next on my list was to try and fit the mk2 astra solid mounts I’ve got. Started at the back as that’s the hardest to get to. That all went well and bolted straight on. Shame the other 2 didn’t fit.... These are up for sale now if anyone is interested.
Next thing was to make a start on making my own solid mounts for the front. Im no fabricator so don’t be too harsh on me when you see what I’ve done lmao the one I’m doing at the moment is the front engine mount.
I then had a good idea and decided to paint my Noz bottle. Not sure why but its done now lol
This afternoon I thought I’d make my front bumper removable with bonnet pins. Here is what I came up with.
I think that brings you all up to date.
Thanks for looking _________________ Quote from PV "Your car could win....... if it rains"

Looking good mate
I've been tempted for a while to make my bumper properly removable the gte lends itself really well as the side mounts just slide on so it only needs some front clips.
Car is looking great and with the gt30 you will love It!!! _________________ glove boxes FTW |

Well ive got a small update.
Ive been told today that the turbo is now in the UK so i should get it withing 7 days
I also brought another mk3 Astra to break the other day. The 2 reasons i brought it are bellow. I was well chuffed when i took them off.
A full set of Gaz adj coilovers. I thought the fronts were home made but when i took a closer look i could see it says GAZ with a number. So then i thought id make sure by taking the shock out. Undone the big nut and slip that up to see part of a shock. By looking at it it looks like they are sealed in there. So didnt want to pull them out and fook them up so i just put it back together lol So they are made by Gaz but they are not the Gaz Golds. All i need to do for the fronts is change them to 5 stud and get some different springs. The backs will be more work as that means Re turreting But then ill have a set of Corsa ones i can sell. _________________ Quote from PV "Your car could win....... if it rains"

Update.
My turbo has arived Looks an awesome bit of kit!
Didnt hang about in bolting it on lol I was really happy when it all fitted up. So no need to change the downpipe or anything.... thank god!
Ive had to make some water cooling hoses this time as its both oil and water cooled this time. They went together fairly well imo. Just useing bits ive got laying around lol
Turbo Gav is bringing me some 4" boost pipe over tomorrow so that should be another job off the list. The turbo oil restrictor should be here Mon/Tue time and im about to order a oil feed and return. I think that will then bring me back to were i was before taking it off the road.
I then set about starting to put the car back together.

turbo is happy to go to around a 4:1 pressure ratio, so 3 bar ish of boost _________________ Under 400bhp makes baby jesus cry.

I suspect that fenny's engine wouldnt respond well if he actually put 3 bar of boost into it on normal fuel.
Plus he would only be able to do so in the midrange, so it would make more torque than bhp, not always a good idea on a FWD car. _________________ Under 400bhp makes baby jesus cry.
